Registering at ZipcodeZoo

In order for ZipcodeZoo to show you your personalized home page, the Registration process must save some of the information in a harmless "cookie" on your machine.

If registration does not seem to be working properly, it is most likely because your browser's security settings are preventing us from saving this cookie. And because this is a security setting, likely there is no error messsage or other indication when it fails. However, ZipcodeZoo will then continue to try to guess your location from your IP (internet) address, even though your registration was "successful".

If you are using Internet Explorer in Windows, click Tools on the menu, then Internet Options, and then the Privacy page. Set it to Medium High (or lower, but we recommend Medium High) and this problem should be resolved. If you are using another browser, check its Help facility for "cookies" or "privacy".

Some internet security programs can also block cookies. If you are using such a program, check its privacy settings.

It is not necessary to register, or to allow cookies, to use ZipcodeZoo, but some of the features work a bit better if you do. ZipcodeZoo does not share your registration information with anyone, and will not use it to send you unsolicited email.

Note that ZipcodeZoo will not automatically use your personal home page, but you can always reach it from the Home menu on every page. If you like, bookmark your personal home page instead of the main page, which can still be reached from menu Home -> ZipcodeZoo Overview.
