Carlos Minguell was born in Barcelona, Spain, and has been living in Tenerife Island since the age of two. He made his first scuba dive at the age of 12 and one year later he started black and white photography. In 1993, he started to compete in underwater photo contests with his wife and partner Caty. Since 1993, they have won more than 100 underwater photo competitions and photo contests, including seven Spanish Championships and two consecutive World Championships. Minguell's pictures have been published in more than 60 magazines and newspapers around the world. In addition to underwater photography, Minguell now teaches underwater photography courses at all levels.
