Notes

At present, there are several subspecies ; R. hylaea guaraniana, R. hylaea asuncionis and R. hylaea pazi. The status of this species is uncertain due to a lack of anatomical and glochidal information (A. Bogan pers. comm. 2011). Therefore the southern records for this species will probably be altered to Rhipidodonta guaraniana (d'Orbigny 1835) when this group is revised (K . Cummings pers. comm. 2011).[1].
