Habitat

Biome: Freshwater [1].

Ecology: The species is found in small rivers , books and swamps of the forested savannah in foothills of the plateau . These streams are recorded as being clear water with some flow rate over a sand base . Depth of water has been recorded at 30 cm, water temperature 20-30°C. Sympatric species include E.chaperi sheljuzhkoi, E.chaperi schreiberi, E.olbrechtsi olbrechtsi and Poropanchax rancureli.
This species is found in mid-water levels in shoals . They lay eggs on aquatic plants and roots of terrestrial plants at waters edge . Sexual maturity in 20 weeks. Full maturity at 7 months with a life expectancy of 3 years.[1].

Notes

Paugy et al. use Rhexipanchax kabae in the second edition of the Fishes of West Africa (2003). Huber (1999) described Rhexipanchax as a subgenus of Procatopus, and Ghedotti (2000) elevated it to genus.[1].
