Description
Habitat
Ecology:
It inhabits dense montane
forest6. In the Itombwe
Mountains, it occurs between 1,470 and 1,820 m6,7,
but in North Nandi it has occurred up to 2,150 m.
It feeds
on insects6,7.
In Itombwe, it breeds
during March-September, and may also lay
during
January-February7. Birds recorded in Kakamega Forest
during surveys in 2002 and 2003 were seen perched 12-22 m
above the
ground
, on bare branches of tall indigenous
trees
with a mean canopy
height
of 27 m12. Observations at Ikuywa River
Forest (Kakamega)12 suggest that the species can
tolerate certain levels of forest degradation.
