Habitat

Ecology: This species inhabits loose sand to soft mud , presumably in slow currents or slack-water areas and is known from a few lake occurrences (W. McCullagh pers. comm. 1992).[1].

This species is in need of genetic validation; it is considered distinct by Turgeon et al. (1998), but not by Johnson (1972), who lists it as a synonym of Elliptio jayensis, and Heard (1979).
