Habitat

Ecology: In Australia this species occurs in diverse habitats including flooded grassland or at the edge of swamps and billabongs . In New Guinea it inhabits low-lying grassy areas in mixed tropical savannahs. It breeds in temporary pools and ditches. It is not known how adaptable it is to secondary habitats.[1].
