Genus Paradiachea

Sporocarps caespitose or crowded, sessile or sub-stipitate. Peridium persistent , iridescent . Columella absent or present, sometimes reaching the apex, sometimes branched at the base into 2 or 3 main branches. Capillitium netted , arising from the length of a columella, with free tips at the periphery.

Physical Description

Species Paradiachea howardii

Plasmodium unknown. Sporocarps scattered , sessile, cylindrical with a blunt apex, 0.9-1.2 mm tall, 0.4-0.5 mm diam. Hypothallus absent. Peridium single, membranous, smooth , silvery iridescent , persistent , pale ochraceous by TL , the base forming a cup . Columella spike-like, tapered, reaching to half the height of the sporotheca, ochraceous by TL. Capillitium a tangle of hyaline threads, radiating at right angles from the columella and attached to the peridium, and with a few cross threads. Spore-mass dark purple-brown. Spores pale purple-brown by TL, 7-10 µm diam., closely verruculose .
