Genus Oligonema

Sporocarps usually densely crowded. Peridium membranous. Capillitium of simple or branched elaters, free from the base and capillitium and not forming a network , faintly decorated with spirals and sometimes warts and/or rings . Spore-mass yellow to ochre .

Physical Description

Species Oligonema oedonema

Sporocarps densely clustered, globose varying to short-plasmodiocarpous, 0.3-0.6 mm diam., bright yellow-brown. Hypothallus not evident. Peridium membranous, thick, roughened, irregular, plicate , smooth when fresh, shining. Dehiscence irregular from above remaining as a deep cup with an irregular margin. Capillitium sparse, consisting of a few short, scattered , free elaters, 45-62 µm long, swollen about the middle , 5-6.3 µm diam., gradually tapered to each end with both tips acuminate or sometimes swollen at one end, marked by faint spiral bands . Spore-mass yellow-brown or fulvous . Spores pale yellow, coarsely warted, 12.5-15 µm diam. Plasmodium unknown.
