Sporocarps small, stipitate, globose to ovate. Stalk translucent, hollow (trapped air is often seen in liquid mounts). Columella usually present. Peridium fugaceous or persistent. Capillitium present or absent.
Sporocarps scattered, c. 0.3 mm tall. Hypothallus obsolete. Stalk c. 66% of the total height, by TL rather dark red-brown, somewhat paler at the base, longitudinally striate, tapering upwards. Sporotheca globose, shining silvery, c. 0.1 mm diam. Peridium persistent, shining silvery in reflected light, violaceous brown by TL, densely warted with rather regularly placed, somewhat irregularly shaped warts. Columella a continuation of the stalk, opaque, reaching the apex of the sporocarps, sometimes confluent with the peridium, or splitting just below the apex into 2-3 main branches. Capillitium absent or scanty, with only a few thick, short branches (c. 3-15 µm long) connected to the apex of the columella. Spores 7-7.5 µm diam., minutely spinulose, with groups of closely placed spinules.
