Sporocarps small, stipitate, globose to ovate. Stalk translucent, hollow (trapped air is often seen in liquid mounts). Columella usually present. Peridium fugaceous or persistent. Capillitium present or absent.
Scattered or solitary, (0.3-)0.5(-0.7) mm tall. Sporotheca ± globose, brown, c. 0.25 mm diam. Hypothallus discoid, red-brown or orange brown, ± alveolar or netted at the very base of the stalk. Stalk black in reflected light, by TL pale orange to red-brown at the base, purplish brown, almost opaque above, built of longitudinal strands, hollow. Columella dissipating into the main branches of the capillitium at c. the centre of the sporotheca. Capillitium rather lax to scanty in small sporocarps, where it does not even reach the periphery, not forming an internal net, but anastomosed slightly in some of the larger specimens at the periphery, mostly ending free, rather thick, but slightly flexuose, purplish brown, thinner, but still sturdy at the periphery. Spore-mass brown. Spores 7-8.5 µm diam., verruculose.
