Description
Genus Licea
Small, stalked or sessile sporocarps , or narrow plasmodiocarps. Dehiscence of sporocarpous forms by means of platelets or by an operculum , and plasmodiocarpous spp. by a longitudal slit. Spore-mass white or coloured. Many spp. are corticolous .
Physical Description
Species Licea albonigra
Sporocarps sessile, lenticular , 0.10 mm diam., c. 0.04 mm tall, the upper part pale grey, the lower part very dark brown to nearly black due to the spore-mass showing through. Peridium single, the pale upper part is opaque , obscuring the spores beneath , the dark lower part is clear brown and translucent by TL . Dehiscence not observed. Spores c. 200 per sporotheca, globose to slightly ovate , practically smooth , 11-12.5 µm diam., very dark brown. On hepatics, on Quercus bark .
