Genus Calonema

Sporocarps either stalked or sessile and then often crowded or heaped. Capillitium of branching tubules which form a network and which may be attached to the base and peridium. Capillitium vaguely decorated with reticulations , irregular rings and/or spirals .

Physical Description

Species Calonema dissipatum

Plasmodium pinkish. Sporocarps scattered , sessile or short stalked, up to 0.6 mm tall. Stalk , if present, up to 300 µm long, filled with cysts . Sporothecae globose to pyriform or turbinate , 0.3-0.8 mm diam., ochraceous to olive-brown, dull or shining and iridescent . Peridium single, yellow, smooth and shining, membranous, or dull if containing debris . Dehiscence irregular or by platelets above. Capillitium of abundant simple , anastomosed or branched, short or very long tubules , usually free , (2.5-)4 µm diam., marked with warts , spines or cogs, with 2-3 slanting, smooth spirals, and with 6-15(-20) µm wide swellings, tips rounded or bulbous. Spore-mass yellow. Spores pale yellow, 9-12 µm diam. including the c. 1 µm high border of baculae.
