Description
Genus Calomyxa
Sporocarpous to plasmodiocarpous. Peridium membranous. Capillitium of mainly unbranched slender, minutely sculptured , flexuous threads which are attached to the base and sometimes also to the peridium. Spore-mass at first lilac, fading to beige.
Physical Description
Species Calomyxa synspora
Fruitbodies light brown, sessile, crowded on a membranous, brown, shiny hypothallus. Sporocarps ± globose , pulvinate , 0.7-1.2 mm diam., or subplasmodiocarpous and up to 1.5 mm long. Peridium membranous, strongly iridescent with green, pink, and purple reflections, rugulose , yellow and nearly smooth by TL . Capillitium very scanty, consisting of delicate straight to sinuous or twisted, simple or branched, solid threads 1.5-2.5 µm at their widest diam. (excluding markings), marked with faint, blunt papillae. Spore-mass yellowish olivaceous . Spores yellow, in irregularly shaped clusters of mostly 5-30, subglobose to ovoid , broadly turbinate , or pyriform , 11-13 µm diam., densely and minutely spinulose on the exposed portions, densely and evenly verruculose elsewhere. Plasmodium unknown.
