Description

Habitat

Ecology: This dioecious species occurs at altitudes between 600 and 1,000 m. It grows in well conserved sectors of sub-humid montane forest (monteverde), also called 'cloud forest'. It is found in humid river-beds. However, a great part of the populations develop in marginal areas relatively disturbed by humans or included in enclaves profoundly altered and near cultivable irrigated lands.
