Annual or perennial herbs or undershrubs. Leaves simple or compound . Flowers in clusters . Calyx rolled in flowers. Corolla 5-lobed, spurred . Ovary unilocular . Achene pappose.

A genus of c. 12 species, in the Mediterranean region and Europe; locally represented by 1 cultivated species.
