Physical Description

Species Antrocaryon micraster

An emergent tree with {Entandrophragma} like leaf-arrangement, but a more lace-like foliage pattern , due to a sparsity of leaves in the crown. Deciduous. The cylindrical bole has no buttresses, smooth when young and scaly with age. The characteristic drupes can usually be found in the leaf-litter. Young leaves are reddish.

Habitat

Ecology: Emergent species in semi-deciduous forests . It regenerates in canopy gaps . It performs less well in burnt or heavily disturbed forests. [1].
