![]() Dave Hanson is a retired educator living in Mission Texas. A combined love for nature and photography has over the years been a driving force in his life. Dave holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and a Master’s degree in Audio-Visual Communications. An avid birder for more than 55 years Dave has traveled to such places as Hawaii, Mexico, Canada, Paraguay, Brazil, Argentina, and China to see and photograph these avian wonders. More recently Dave has become interested in identifying and photographing Butterflies, Dragonflies, and Damselflies, as well as Tiger Beetles. In 2002 Dave formed Cyber-Tex Imaging, for the production and distribution of his photo CDs. Dave’s other interests are: Ham Radio (callsign K9ZVZ), animal rescue, computer technology, amateur astronomy, metal detecting, radio controlled flying, and until a heart bypass put him in the co-pilot’s seat, he was a private pilot. This summer Dave will attend his 37th consecutive annual convention of the Experimental Aircraft Association in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. A tireless supporter of efforts to preserve the natural balance of the planet Dave has been involved in many activities toward that end. He hopes the reader of this Biographical sketch will also be so inclined. Dave Hanson is the creator of Butterflies of South Texas, a photographic reference collection on Compact Disc. It contains over 600 quality butterfly photographs taken in Hidalgo, Cameron, and Starr counties at the southern tip of Texas. This area, known as the Lower Rio Grande Valley, has more species diversity than any other place in the United States. The collection features about 98% of the butterflies a seasoned butterflier might see in a two year period here in the Valley. He is also the creator of Butterflies of Upper Wisconsin, a reference collection of high quality digital photos illustrating nearly 90% of the species found in the upper two thirds of Wisconsin. |
