Taxonomy

2005 taxonomy

The Spiraxidae family is classified within the informal group Sigmurethra, itself belonging to the clade Stylommatophora within the clade Eupulmonata (according to the taxonomy of the Gastropoda by Bouchet & Rocroi, 2005).[2]

The family Spiraxidae consists of the following subfamilies:

2010 taxonomy

Thompson (2010)[1] have redefined subfamilies in Spiraxidae and have moved Euglandininae and Streptostylinae as subfamilies of Spiraxidae. There are three subfamilies within Spiraxidae:

Apparently, this is not universally accepted, as Fauna Europaea states another systematics for the Euglandininae subfamily, still placing it among the Oleacinidae family [3].

subfamily Spiraxinae include seven[1] genera:

subfamily Euglandininae

subfamily Streptostylinae
