Gracillariidae

(Family)

Overview

'

Members of the Family Gracillariidae are small to tiny in size, with a wingspan of 0.4-2 cm. They are usually colorful, with long fringes on the forewing and hindwing. These < span class="toolTipElement" title="Moths ::A Genus in the Kingdom Animalia.">moths have long antennae and lancelike wings. When resting, adult moths often elevate the front of their body, pushing the tips of their folded wings against the surface on which they are resting. Larvae typically form blotch mines in leaves and pupate in these mines.
