Physical Description
Adult : Head : cinnamon Ear Coverts: dark violet-blue streaks above and below Neck: cinnamon Sides: purplish Body: Underparts: reddish-purple Upperparts: brownish gray Wings : Secondaries: black with white trailing edge on outer secondaries Tail: broad white edges on outer feathers ; pearl-gray tip Shape : squared.
Size/Age/Growth
About 10 inches long, with a wingspan of 15 to 15 inches. Adults weigh about 5.6 ounces .
Habitat
Vegetation: tropical deciduous forests, arid lowland scrubs, arid lowland scrubs, second-growth scrub • Maximum Elevation: 600 meters • Foraging Strata: Terrestrial • Center of Abundance: Lower tropical: lowlands, lower than 500 m.; tropics. • Sensitivity to Disturbance: Low
