Physical Description

Adult : Face : purplish Eye Color: golden Bill: dark Length : short Neck: purplish Length: short.

Size/Age/Growth

About 9 to 10 inches long, with a wingspan of 20 to 20 inches. Adults weigh about 4.5 ounces .

Habitat

Vegetation: freshwater marshes, freshwater lakes and ponds • Maximum Elevation: 2,600 meters • Foraging Strata: Water • Center of Abundance: Lower tropical: lowlands, lower than 500 m.; tropics. • Sensitivity to Disturbance: Medium

Typically found in a lake at a mean distance from sea level of 180 meters (592 feet).[1]
