Habitat
Occurs in places with the steepest downthrow and sharp bends of sea bottom often in the places of the slope surrounded by large depths (the steep bottom relief causes vertical turbulent currents that provide the accumulation of food items) (Ref. 26289). Common depth: 82-273 fm (150-500 m ).
Typically found in water with a depth of 0 to -3,130 meters (0 to -10,269 feet).Mean = -756.260 meters (-2,481.168 feet), Standard Deviation = 1,099.580 based on 54 observations. Ocean depth information for each observation from British Oceanographic Data Centre.
Biome: Saltwater . Demersal .
Biology
Reproduction
Oviparous (Ref. 205). Eggs are extruded in floating gelatinous masses (Ref. 52092).
