Family : Cichlids ; Inhabits the sediment-free rocky habitat and is normally found over large horizontal surfaces. Feeds by combing the loose aufwuchs from the rocks. Also feeds on algae and plankton (Ref. 5595).

Habitat

Biome: Freshwater [1].

Ecology: Found in rocky habitats inhabiting caves in a sediment free environment at depths of between 3-15 m. Feeds on loose aufwuchs from the rock surface. Also feeds on plankton . Territorial males are observed throughout the year. Females have also been observed defending territories. Spawning occurs inside the male's caves. Not exported in the aquarium trade (1990). Max . size: 11 cm TL .[1].
