Adult Female: Head : Cap: bluish purple Face : Chin: brown Neck: Throat : brown Body: Belly: white Breast: brown upper breast, white lower breast Sides: brown Tail: blackish Shape : notched Undertail Coverts: white.Adult Male: Body: Belly: dark iridescent purplish blue with faint white bands.

About 7.25 inches long, with a wingspan of 15.5 to 15.5 inches. Adults weigh about 1.5 ounces .
