Family Hirundinidae

A Family of birds that is adapted to feeding on flying insects in the air : they have slender bodies, long pointed wings, short bills, strong bills, a wide gape , and great maneuverability and endurance. Their legs are short and their front toes are partially joined, so their walk is awkward, and their feet are better suited to perching.

Habitat

Typically found in the intertidal zone at the water's edge at a mean distance from sea level of 223 meters (730 feet).Standard Deviation = 506.090 based on 78 observations. Terrestrial altitude and ocean depth information for each observation from British Oceanographic Data Centre.
