Comment: Lectotype : SMF 10339 (designated by Mertens 1967) In areas where both mitchellii and minor occur the two forms hybridize (MANTHEY & SCHUSTER 1999). Max . total length: 40 cm (SVL: 16 cm) [minor] Max. total length: 40 cm (SVL: 170 mm, TL 250 mm) [mitchelli] Named after Latin minor for small or smaller; P. (m. ) mitchelli was named after Francis John Mitchell, Cuator of the South Australian Museum in Adelaide.
