Description
Family Charadriidae
A family of birds that includes the plovers, dotterels, and lapwings, about 64 to 66 species in all. They are small to medium-sized birds with compact bodies, short, thick necks and long, usually pointed , wings.
Physical Description
Adult Female Summer: Face : Chin: white with small black flecks Color: white with small black flecks Postocular Stripe : dusky brown Neck: upper portion white with small black flecks Tail: Undertail Coverts: white.Adult Male Summer: Face: black in front of white line that extends down to undertail coverts Eyebrow Line: white line extends from forehead down to undertail coverts Forehead: white line Bill: black Neck: Sides: white line extends from forehead down to undertail coverts Body: Flanks: white line extends from forehead down to undertail coverts Sides: white line extends from forehead down to undertail coverts Underparts: black Upperparts: golden spots and splashes on black Legs : Leg Color: grayish black Leg Length: long Tail: Undertail Coverts: white.
