Physical Description
Adult : Body: Back: black Flanks: violet Wings : Coverts: red sheen Flight Feathers: green sheen.
Habitat
Vegetation: freshwater marshes, freshwater marshes, bogs • Minimum Elevation: 3,100 meters • Maximum Elevation: 4,800 meters • Zoogeographic Region: Altiplano and Western Andes • Foraging Strata: Water • Center of Abundance: Upper montaine: mountains, upper range, above 3,600 m. • Sensitivity to Disturbance: Medium
Typically found at an altitude of 0 to 4,846 meters (0 to 15,899 feet).[1]

It is found in swampy areas, rushy pastureland, mudflats
