Physical Description

Adult : Body: Rump : white patch with a gray-brown stripe or mostly white (bisected by dusky feathers ) to wholly dark Wings: Shape : long, narrow, pointed Tail: Shape: deeply forked.

Size/Age/Growth

About 7.5 to 9 inches long, with a wingspan of 18 to 19 inches. Adults weigh about 1.2 ounces .

Habitat

Vegetation: freshwater marshes, pelagic waters • Foraging Strata: Water • Center of Abundance: Lower tropical: lowlands, lower than 500 m.; tropics. • Sensitivity to Disturbancet: High

Typically found in water with a depth of 0 to -6,000 meters (0 to -19,685 feet).[1]
