Habitat
Ecology:
It occurs in habitats
with pure sandy bottoms
at depths between 50–70
m.
It is abundant at these depths in many parts of the lake
. It feeds
on insect larvae. It is reported to have declined substantially in
abundance
in the southeastern arm of the lake south of Boadzulu Island
due to the impact
of demersal trawling
in the area. Reported not
to have been exported in the aquarium
trade (1990). Max
