Overview

Family : Cichlids ; Inhabits the shallow littoral zone, especially near emergent and submerged vegetation , less frequent in the water lily zone and at margins of papyrus swamps , commonly encountered over rock foundations of piers [1]. The diatoms Melosira and Rhopalodia comprised the predominating digested stomach contents. Plant epidermis , filamentous green algae and fragmentary animal remains were also recorded[2].
