Habitat

Biome: Terrestrial

Ecology: Found in the dense humid rainforests on the eastern side of Madagascar but also occurs in the dry deciduous forests to the west and occasionally also in marshes. A largely nocturnal species, but day-time sightings have been recorded. The species feeds almost exclusively on earthworms but occasionally takes amphibians , insects or their larvae.
