Notes
Name
Status: Accepted Name
.
Comment: kingii: Holotype: BMNH Bocourt’s paper from 1878 is also
cited as being from 1872 in SMITH & TAYLOR 1950. we haven’t seen
the original and therefore don’t know which one bears the right
year.
Synonymy
and subspecies
after SMITH & TAYLOR 1950. Bryson et
al. (2005) provided evidence that the single specimen of Elgaria
usafa from the Sierra del Nido in Chihuahua is an aberrantly patterned
E. kingii and suggested to synonymize E. usafa with E. kingii.
Formerly included
in the genus Gerrhonotus (see Good 1988).
We follow Bryson et al. (2005) by including Elgaria usafa
as a junior synonym
of E. kingii.[1].
