Family : Porgies ; Occurs on the shelf on rocky and rubble bottoms , as well as on sand around rocks. The young are close to shore while the adults occur offshore in the vicinity of the continental slope . Feeds mainly on crustaceans, fish and cephalopods [1]. Minimum depth reported taken from Ref. 27000.

Physical Description

Species Dentex gibbosus

Males are commonly 60 cm (Total Length) in length when caught/marketed, but may be as large as 106 cm (Fork Length).

Habitat

May be found at depths of 20 to 220 meters.

Typically found in water with a depth of 0 to -3,282 meters (0 to -10,768 feet).[2]
