Habitat

Typically found in water with a depth of 0 to -5,907 meters (0 to -19,380 feet).[1]

Biome: Marine .

Ecology: This species is found in back reef and fore reef environments from 0.5-55 m depth (A. Bruckner pers. comm. ). The form C. amaranthus occurs in intermediate to deep waters from 10-30 m. [2].
