Physical Description

Size/Age/Growth

Males are commonly 15 cm (Total Length) in length when caught/marketed, but may be as large as 20 cm (Total Length).

Habitat

Occurs in shallow muddy bottoms from the coastline to 75 m depth; also in brackish estuaries and hypersaline lagoons [1]. Inhabit mainly coastal waters and tidelands, but abundant in waters very near the sea to a few meters elevation with wholly freshwater ichthyofauna [2]. May be found at depths of 0 to 75 meters.
