Habitat

Typically found in a lake at a mean distance from sea level of 95 meters (312 feet).[1]

Ecology: Preferred habitats include partially-open running waters , avoiding cold torrents , high mountains and deep shade, and it is scarce on large rivers . Wandering males are often seen far from suitable habitats. [2].
