Near Threatened

Threat status

Conservation Status

History:

  • 1996-Data Deficient (Baillie and Groombridge 1996)

Threats:

  • 1.1.1 Habitat Loss/Degradation - Agriculture - Crops (ongoing)
  • 1.1.4 Habitat Loss/Degradation - Agriculture - Livestock (ongoing)
  • 3.1.1 Harvesting (hunting/gathering) - Food - Subsistence use/local trade (ongoing)

For info on these threat codes, see here.

Justification

This species has been rarely recorded and is not well studied. However, due to ongoing habitat loss and its fidelity to intact habitat, in addition to hunting pressures, this species could certainly classify under a threat category either in the near future or with additional population data. Therefore, the species is assessed as Near Threatened given the inferred population decline from the combined threats, which could approach 30% over the past 10 years.
