Physical Description
Size/Age/Growth
Males are commonly 20 cm (Total Length) in length when caught/marketed, but may be as large as 36 cm (Total Length).
Habitat
Found on the shelf or coastal pelagic on various bottoms (sand , mud , rocks and seaweeds). May be found at depths of 0 to 350 meters. Usually found at depths of 0 to 100 meters.
Typically found in water with a depth of 0 to -5,091 meters (0 to -16,703 feet).[1]

Biology
Diet
Omnivorous , feeding mainly on crustaceans, also planktophagous. Also caught in pelagic trawls [2].
Reproduction
Hermaphroditic , generally protogynous.
Behavior
Gregarious , ascending to the surface mainly at night.
