Family : Cichlids ; Used for snail control (Ref.4967). Not confined to any particular type of substrate in Lake Victoria. Ubiquitous in waters less than 20 m. Found in papyrus swamps [1]. Omnivorous , swamp-dweller[2].

Habitat

Ecology: This species is found over all substrates in the littoral zone (along rocky shores , over sand and over mud ), except vegetation. The species is a pharyngeal mollusc crushers.[3].
