Habitat

Biome: Freshwater [1].

Ecology:  

Astacoides crosnieri is commonly found in swampy areas within natural forest , however it may also be found in forest streams and occasionally in rice fields and canals (Dixon 1992, Jones et al. 2007). Eggs are laid in June to July, then carried for 4 months, hatching in October/ November. This is the smallest of the MalagasyMalagasy crayfish species, growing to 53 mm carapace length (Boyko et al. 2005) and reaching sexual maturity at 31 mm carapace length (CL).
