Family : Jacks and pompanos ; Adults found over coral reefs in coastal waters below 60 m [1]. Forms schools. Juveniles solitary, found in surface waters and in estuaries; may mimic jellyfish . Feeds on fishes , squids , and crustaceans[2].

Physical Description

Species Alectis indicus

Males are commonly 100 cm (Total Length) in length when caught/marketed, but may be as large as 165 cm (Total Length).


May be found at depths of 20 to 100 meters.

Typically found at an altitude of 0 to 867 meters (0 to 2,844 feet).[3]
