Physical Description

Size/Age/Growth

Maximum length 25 cm TL [1]. Males are bigger than females.

Habitat

Collected from a small creek , quite sunny, with amber-colored water, slow current , muddy substrate and approximately 1 m in depth.

Typically found at an altitude of 0 to 584 meters (0 to 1,916 feet).[2]

Ecology: Found together with Pterophyllum scalare, Heros efasciatus, Hypselecara temporalis, and Mesonauta guyanae[3].

Diet

Feeds on shrimps, insect larvae of Odonata, Coleoptera and Hemiptera, as well as on fishes like cyprinodonts, characids.

Reproduction

Reproduction occurs during the rainy season .

Behavior

Solitary.
